Habari, i'm Anthony Osanya Mugwang'a!
System Analyst / Software Developer
I strive to make software applications highly functional which translates into higher efficiency and productivity. This is possible because I always find myself very empathetic during the design phase given that most of my clients are crunching volumnous data.

Work Experience
Finance in Motion (FiM)
Software Developer - November 2010 to February 2014
Finance-in-Motion is an alternative investments company with a sizeable and growing portfolio.
I was part of the team that built a financial risk rating and analysis application. It runs on .Net and mysql. In principle, the application manages indicators to reflect the financial risk of the institutions FiM invests or intends to invest in. We provided the risk department with a canvas module to define the indicators and assign them weights. The indicators were then aggregated into groups (also assigned with weights) to give various qualitative and quantitative ratings. These groups were then aggregated into an overall rating. As per the time I was leaving FiM, fimsight was a tool to reckon with in the decision-making process and version 3.0 was released early this year to improve the reporting features. While working at FiM, I also appreciated other Risk Management Models; I worked with a data scientist to implement a new statistical model using Pentaho. With Pentaho, we took the data from fimsight and crunched it even further into different peer groups like geographic groups.
With every module we successfully implemented, the users got very creative. What had seemed impossible and suppressed started floating more often in meetings. Risk Management has become a great field of interest to me.
Frankfurt School of Finance and Management
Software Developer - April 2008 to April 2010
In Frankfurt, Germany and Nairobi, Kenya : June 2008 to November 2009 I worked for the advisory services unit of the school that was the primary advisor of the European Fund for Southeastern Europe (EFSE, the world’s largest microfinance investment fund at the time). We developed a sub loan monitoring system to track loan use and an investment rating tool to track financial indicators. Together, these tools are used quarterly to analyse the risk of the fund’s investments.
Saga Thrift and Enterprise Promotion Limited
Information Systems Manager - May 2006 to April 2008
Saga Thrift is a consulting institution that provides management services to Savings and Credit institutions. I was the manager of the management information system (MIS) that kept track of the day-to-day savings and credit activities. The institution also had diverse projects churning out data that needed capturing and reporting.
